Born in Fukui Prefecture, Japan in 1958. Since a child, I have learned from his father, Keiichi Fujita, who was a press photographer and studied under Mr Ken Domon, a great master of photographer who established the realism in the photographic world. Having studied in the realism under Mr Ken Domon, Mr Ihei Kimura and Mr Jun Miki who were globally major photographers, I was able to improve the skill and sense of photography and be ready for start to work as a professional photographer.

ふじた しゅうへい(フォトグラファー)
1958年福井県生まれ。大阪芸術大学写真学科卒業。東京にてスタジオアシスタントを務め、その後アシスタントフォトグラファーを経て1985年に独立。1988年藤田修平写真事務所設立、現在も活動を続けている。
写真家の父、藤田圭一は日本を代表する写真家土門拳に師事し、同時に新聞社の報道カメラマンでもあった。第三回朝日広告賞を公募部門で受賞。木村伊兵衛や三木純らとも交流があったことより、写真によるリアリズム表現を幼少期より学ぶ。大学在学中には土門拳氏の最後の撮影旅行にも立ち会う。このころより写真を通して見るものの見方や考え方を身につけ始めた。写真家として独立後’80~’90年代はミュージシャンのレコードジャケットやタレントの写真集やポートレートを中心に撮影。2000年以降は国内外の旅を中心に自然や文化遺産なども撮影し表現の幅を広げてきた。2002年 個展「テクノマヌカン」、2004年 個展「Cross Over」、2007年「Japanese Bamboo Baskets」出版(講談社インターナショナル刊)アメリカやイギリスでも高い評価を受ける。イギリスのインテリア雑誌「 Craft and Design」誌では今月の一冊にも取り上げられ、撮影した写真で選ばれたオブジェが、大英博物館に所蔵が決定している。2009年 個展「チベット 108の記憶」、2013年 栃木蔵の街博物館「近代竹工芸の誕生展の籠のメインイメージ写真に選ばれる。2013年版 日本政府開発援助(ODA)白書では海外で働く日本人のポートレートが表紙に選ばれる。2014年 個展 「藤田修平」展、同年 内閣府の広報誌Highliting Japanに記事が掲載(内閣府HP)。近年はNPOや地方自治体での撮影、各界のポートレートも手掛けている。現在、日本の文化、芸術なども撮影し、感じる心の観点から写真を追求し続けている。
